Opening Ceremony!
Who: Everybody!
What: Opening Ceremony! Say hi to all your new friends! It's a meet 'n' greet!
When: OPENING DAY!
Where: Just inside the Academic Building
Warnings: None yet. Yet.
[In a wide open hall with banners and a various sundry of celebratory items, the headmaster's rousing speech begins to come to a close.]
In short, you all are here to save our world! There is a threat out there that we must face, but we cannot face it alone. [His demeanor is pleasant, but thinly veiled. His stress is evident in his words, but he is attempting to stay cheerful.] We must do our best to watch over our friends and family and neighbors, no matter who they may be.
We are all responsible for one another. [He lets the silence hang for a moment before letting off and overly cheerful--] HaHa! [Was that a bit forced? Or was it just me?]
Well, guys, it’s time for me t’go, got lotsa stuff to take care of bein’ headmaster and all. But please, get to know one another, go check out classes, and find out where you live on campus! [He gestures to various sections of the room, all labeled with bright colored papers and text.]
I’ll see y’around!
[And with that, the headmaster is off!No, seriously. Watch him go, he’s movin’ fast for such a short guy.]
((OOC: WELCOMING CEREMONY LOG! Feel free to create starters here and tag everyone! Don’t be shy. :) You can use prose or action text, whichever you’re more comfortable with.))

But right now. Right now she’s going to check up on her rooming assignment. At first she’s pleased because she’s so high up in one of the buildings—but then.]
Wait, roommate? I have a roommate?
[OKAY SO. MAYBE SHE WASN’T ALWAYS SUPER PRINCESS LIKE—
But she NEVER had to share a room before.]
Re: merida → ota
I know, right? Weird. You gotta wonder who it could possibly be.
[ Said oh-so-casually, as he holds a conspicuous piece of paper in his hands. ]
Just think, it could be anybody in this entire room!
[ Sliiiiding that piece of paper casually across the table. For absolutely no reason. No reason at all. ]
They could be right next to you and you'd never know. Crazy, huh?
[ Just. Staring up at the ceiling. Whistling. And twiddling his thumbs. Don't mind him, don't mind him at all. ]

Nope. Another read through of his paper ensures he's still the top floor in what looks like the nicer building all on his own like he had been two seconds ago. A third read ensures that this is not magic paper that changes your roommate situation. Crisis averted.

Jasmine || OTA
Thus, faced with completely new surroundings and the actual ability to move place to place as she pleases, she takes the opportunity to explore the building. Curious, she peers at all the papers on the doors and peeks in through the tiny windows, taking in her new place of residence. However, being so focused on the building and rooms themselves doesn't bode well for moving about the halls with other people.
It isn't long until she bumps into someone.]
Oh! R-really, I'm terribly sorry.
[Oops.]

Hiccup | ota
Okay, he could deal with a giant dragon and even cannibalistic barbarians, but a talking mouse took the cake. Hiccup had a feeling things were going to be weird here. Not that it wasn't already. They didn't exactly have a school system on Berk, unless you counted the pirate training program that younger kids took, but other than that things weren't taught. Vikings weren't exactly a learning lot, so he was gonna push the weirdness aside and look forward to being around people more his intelligence level.
...maybe that was hoping for a bit too much.
Hiccup scanned his eyes down the classes list, squinting before his eyes adjusted to the lights overhead on the strange parchment.]
no subject
[ 'Tact' isn't anywhere to be found here.
The Once-ler had been standing next to him, examining the class list. Skimming it for anything of interest and inwardly questioning why there's a significant lack of ones dealing with music. At some point he glanced over to look at the person next to him. And then looked down.
Now he's knelt down and tilted sideways so he can start stare better at one of this poor kid's feet. Or lack there of. He might have poked it too. This is not how you're supposed to introduce yourself to people. ]

Belle || OTA
However, discovering Monsieur Mickey Mouse actually was a large mouse is something of a shock. Luckily, after having lived in the Beast's castle, however short her stay was, she comes to accept this odd, vaguely unsettling fact as something she'd just need to get used to soon.
After his speech, she stands, straightens out the skirt of her dress, and begins to explore the building. However, after several rounds, she realizes her office and classroom numbers are nowhere in sight.
Odd. Maybe they switched rooms and didn't tell her.
She pipes up at the first person to walk past her.]
Pardonnez-moi, but have you seen any papers on the doors that say French, Literature, or Belle on them? I can't seem to find my classroom.

the once-ler | ota
Mouse: 1
Mustache: -10
The mouse gets +1 for asking in a formal letter, thinking-- no knowing Once-ler can help change the world, and not questioning anything. Good on you, mouse. Good on you.
He's idly wandering around off to the side of everyone else, keeping to himself while he gets a feel of the area, and just watching everyone with a bit of an uncomfortable expression like he feels really out of place. Or maybe he's silently judging everyone. (What the heck is that person wearing over there??)
He's definitely not sure how to approach anything at the moment and keeps drumming his gloved hands on his sides awkwardly. It's not exactly like he's around people too often unless they're his family or customers or some random rich people at some function you want to get money out of. These are peers right here though. They're going to be people you learn with, and maybe save the world with, and aren't there to get money out of (yet). He should know them on a personal level. Connections are to be made. Networking. Socialization! Going to have conversations about things not business. ...When was the last time he spoke to someone about something completely unrelated to business?
...
Uh-oh. Drawing a blank. ]

She heaved a sigh and brushed her bangs out of her eyes. She nodded casually at Once-ler before leaning up against the wall. She gazed out at the other students before glancing back at Once-ler.]

M.K. | ota
She stood in stunned silence until she shook her head and shrugged the whole thing off. Weird was going to happen. She'd just have to get used to it one way or another. Taking a deep breath M.K. turned on her heels and looked around at her fellow classmates. None of them looked too daunting, thankfully. They were all in the same boat really, weren't they?
With a strong step forward M.K. approached the nearest classmate and held out her hand.]

After the headmaster's departure, Giselle stood up and smiled brightly. It was time to greet her students and fellow teachers. Jack Kelly | OTA
[Already this is like a bad trip-- but at least everyone else seems just as perturbed. Jack glances among his fellow students, his teeth worrying at his bottom lip for a moment. No one said anything about a giant mouse-- a giant mouse that can talk, that squeaks and laughs and looks slightly terrifying--
--but nothing about this is normal. That black mist shit that had invaded New York isn't normal, and David-- David!-- forgetting who he is isn't normal-- so why should anything else be?
Might as well try to take it in stride, he figures. Digging out a cigarette, he lights up and begins walking around, trying to meet his fellow students. Heroes. Whatever.]

Pitch Black | OTA
Mickey was an interesting character to say the least. A talking mouse didn't bother him too much. He knew a talking rabbit. Mickey just a different rodent. And smaller. And far more cheerful. But his demeanor was a curious one to the embodiment of fear.
Pitch could be seen walking around the parameter of the room. And you know what you might also see? Some black sand rising from his feet behind him. The sand hisses and twirls, forming into a horse. That's right. A horse. Pitch smiles at those he passes, un-phased about the horse trotting behind him. Might as well make an impression.
The Boogeyman was not to be messed with.]
no subject
The last time Jack saw Pitch was when the hole in the earth closed over him and his swarm of Nightmares. Seeing him here, now, with one of them pacing behind him and apparently under control is a shock, and his caution levels ratchet all the way up to "danger in the room" in about three seconds.
Moments later, the Boogeyman will hear a voice addressing him from behind. ]
Okay, who invited you to the party, and what were they smoking when they did it?
[ The question starts out jovial enough, but the last half of the sentence is punctuated with terse, harsh tones and a dangerous twirl of his staff as Jack takes a couple of steps forward. ]

This guy cannot be serious.
[ Somebody's gonna have to lighten the mood in this room. Luckily he knows just the person. He gathers himself up to spring lightly from the windowsill, and his landing in the midst of the crowd a moment later is preceded by a gust of wind and a cloud of sudden snow flurries.
In all the chaos? It's likely to go unnoticed by the majority of the room. But if your character happens to be standing nearby they might suddenly feel inexplicably a little less nervous, a little more cheerful. If they're not standing nearby they might get hit by a snowball in the back of the head or another faceful of snow flurries at some point as Jack weaves his way through the crowd, keeping mostly out of sight and stealth-bombing people with magic. Or, they might catch him in the act. Who knows? Anything can happen. ]
{ OOC: Okay so I may have totally forgotten this before, but if all you nice folks could please hop over to Jack's permissions and let me know if it's okay for him to use ~FUN MAGIC~ on your character, that'd be swell. }

rapunzel ♥ ota!
But it is! It's exhilarating and overwhelming and just---Well, give Rapunzel a minute to think here. Turning over the map in her hands, all she really does is linger off to the side, hoping no one would...well, trample all over all that hair. She's tried her best to gather it into the neatest pile possible next to her---
Though that certainly doesn't stop any stray feet. Nor does it stop her wandering around.
So if you see Rapunzel---and you likely will---exploring, don't be afraid to follow that trail of hair to it's owner. If you're lucky, she may even be on the same floor when you find her. Otherwise, she might be so enthralled with what's going on, she might even bump into you! ]

Really. And this place was supposed to help them figure out how to stop the Mist? The entire situation held a certain discomforting air to Astrid, first of all from the fact that she has to be away from Berk at all during these times, to pretty everything else she's seen thus far at this Academy.
She stands towards the back of the assembly with her arms crossed and her lips pursed. She may look stern, but go up and talk to her and one will probably learn... that yeah she can be pretty stern.]

Aisling | OTA
Save the world? Aisling is mostly concerned with her forest, honestly. ...And wherever her best friend is. And Kells a little, because her best friend's uncle is in there--but that's in her forest anyway, so anything that saves her forest will probably help save the village.
She's less than enthused about classes, too, although--maybe you have to read well to be able to beat the Mist? She knew that a Book was supposed to turn darkness into light, so maybe that had to do with the reading and not just the art?
She leaves the building as soon as she's able. She tries to ignore everyone around her and turns to scramble directly up the side of the building. She has a map, she knows the place she's supposed to stay is nearby, but she's also worked out the word "garden" on it. That seems much more appealing. Maybe she can see it from the roof.]
