Opening Ceremony!
Who: Everybody!
What: Opening Ceremony! Say hi to all your new friends! It's a meet 'n' greet!
When: OPENING DAY!
Where: Just inside the Academic Building
Warnings: None yet. Yet.
[In a wide open hall with banners and a various sundry of celebratory items, the headmaster's rousing speech begins to come to a close.]
In short, you all are here to save our world! There is a threat out there that we must face, but we cannot face it alone. [His demeanor is pleasant, but thinly veiled. His stress is evident in his words, but he is attempting to stay cheerful.] We must do our best to watch over our friends and family and neighbors, no matter who they may be.
We are all responsible for one another. [He lets the silence hang for a moment before letting off and overly cheerful--] HaHa! [Was that a bit forced? Or was it just me?]
Well, guys, it’s time for me t’go, got lotsa stuff to take care of bein’ headmaster and all. But please, get to know one another, go check out classes, and find out where you live on campus! [He gestures to various sections of the room, all labeled with bright colored papers and text.]
I’ll see y’around!
[And with that, the headmaster is off!No, seriously. Watch him go, he’s movin’ fast for such a short guy.]
((OOC: WELCOMING CEREMONY LOG! Feel free to create starters here and tag everyone! Don’t be shy. :) You can use prose or action text, whichever you’re more comfortable with.))

[Though there's some wariness on Jasmine's part -she's never seen a faerie, much less had any experience with any supernatural beings- she isn't about to be walked over.]
Perhaps if you do, I will guide you to the gardens.
no subject
Nobody, not when she was the Princess, not when she was alone, not when she'd met Brendan, has ever asked her to say please.]
...What?
[Then she stands fully, putting her hands on her hips.]
Why should I say please to you?
no subject
The people here aren't around to do your bidding simply because you want them do; I am certainly not, either.
[The faerie has spunk, Jasmine will give her that, though it doesn't much change her stance on wanting to be treated with some sort of dignity.]
no subject
Fine. Please. [She says the word, but it isn't sounding particularly respectful.]
no subject
[But at least she said it. The tone leaves little to love, but it's better than nothing.]
Very well then. If you venture past the quad and towards the Transit Center, there will be a large dome; inside is the gardens.
no subject
A dome? You mean there are walls there too?
no subject
At least the plants are not locked away.

So...what happens in winter? Does everything stay awake?
no subject
[There's a brief pause.]
And... do you think that's a good thing?

Much of the Middle Kingdom doesn't, and there are literally thousands of plants that need such weather. Besides, the other sort of plants will do just fine so long as the gardeners keep the soil fertile and keep everything watered.
no subject
I can do that. I think. If it's a dome, how does the rain get in? [Sprinklers, Aisling.]
no subject
[Oh. Well.... hm. This is one Jasmine isn't quite sure of.] If it is anything like the palace gardens in Agrabah, I suppose they are watered through some sort of irrigation.
no subject
[Aisling nods, even though she has no idea what 'irrigation' is. She's done admitting she doesn't know things.]
no subject
[Well then.]
What is your forest like? [Being rather unworlded herself, Jasmine is curious, though the question doubles as an attempt to further smooth over their previous clashing.]

It does sound very impressive, far more than the forests here on the island.
Though you'll have to be the judge of that; I don't think I'm qualified enough to have a final say on that.
[Endless dunes of sand are what she's used to seeing stretch beyond the city of Agrabah.]

...Though, if I remember right, one of the nearby forests is off-limits. You may need to look into that before venturing off.
