Where: Just inside the Academic Building
Warnings: None yet. Yet.
[In a wide open hall with banners and a various sundry of celebratory items, the headmaster's rousing speech begins to come to a close.]

In short, you all are here to save our world! There is a threat out there that we must face, but we cannot face it alone. [His demeanor is pleasant, but thinly veiled. His stress is evident in his words, but he is attempting to stay cheerful.] We must do our best to watch over our friends and family and neighbors, no matter who they may be.

We are all responsible for one another. [He lets the silence hang for a moment before letting off and overly cheerful--] HaHa! [Was that a bit forced? Or was it just me?]

Well, guys, it’s time for me t’go, got lotsa stuff to take care of bein’ headmaster and all. But please, get to know one another, go check out classes, and find out where you live on campus! [He gestures to various sections of the room, all labeled with bright colored papers and text.]

I’ll see y’around!

[And with that, the headmaster is off! No, seriously. Watch him go, he’s movin’ fast for such a short guy.]

[Giselle had been very attentive during the headmaster's speech. It left her feeling more than a little concerned about her decision to come and teach at the academy. Could she really help save the world? She'd never accomplished such a large task before...but if that was what was required of her then she had to try.

After the headmaster's departure, Giselle stood up and smiled brightly. It was time to greet her students and fellow teachers. That at least was something she could look forward to with all her heart. Meeting new friends was always a wonderful experience. With the intention of traveling back to her classroom, Giselle stopped to talk to just about anyone she came across as if they were already dear friends.]

Hello! How are you? Welcome!

[Oh dear Moon. Wasn't she just bubbly? Pitch is taken aback by her enthusiasm. He takes a moment to blink away the surprise from his face and looks around. Oh. She was talking to him. That's something to adjust to, after being invisible for a few months.

Pitch clears his throat and forces a smile with his jagged teeth visible.]

Yes... hello.

[Pitch isn't used to talking to people so energetic. There was Toothiana, but that was a different story.]

I'm doing well. And yourself? Have you been adjusting to the Academy well?

Oh, yes. [She nods enthusiastically.] It's a lovely place to stay, even if the circumstances are a bit...

[She pauses, looking for the right word.]

Troublesome. Don't you think?

[Pitch waves his hand dismissively.]

Not at all. I have the most confidence in this Academy to figure out how to stop this Mist.

After all, it's the most concentrated here. It's the best place to study it first hand.

Yes, you're right. [She straightens up and nods firmly.]

That's why we're here after all. I'm certain that we'll find someway to help.

Exactly.

[Pitch smiles with confidence behind it. Sort of. He folds one arm under his chest as he bows.]

My apologies, let me introduce myself. I'm Pitch Black, part of Security here.

[Giselle returns his bow with the daintiest of curtsies.]

It's lovely to meet you Mister Black. My name is Giselle. I'll be teaching...oh, what did they call it? Ah! Home economics. Sewing, and cooking, and that sort of thing.

[O-ohkay I guess today is the day Merida is approached by the beaming light of cheeriness that is Giselle.]

I-- Hello? [It's actually a bit odd being surrounded by people who don't address her as princess or keep up formalities]

--Are y'a teacher? I had a question, about th'rooms. D'we all have roommates? D'we have to?

Oh! Well, I'm not really sure about that.

[She holds a hand to her cheek, looking throughly stumped by the question.]

But I'm certain we could ask. Perhaps the headmaster could tell you.

T'be honest it doesn't seem like th'head master is very interested in dealin' with us. Rushin' off like that. Kind of an odd one, isn't he?

He must have an awful lot of things to worry about, though. Perhaps he was just seeing to something else on campus.

[Giselle... you seem to think the best of people. Merida is not sure whether that should be considered a good or bad thing. But hey, maybe this woman won't get her in trouble at every turn!]

Either way, it doesn't seem like we'll be seein' a lot of him.

[She gives a polite curtsy--]

My name is Merida, I'm a student here.

[Manners is manners!]

Oh! [Giselle returns her curtsy with one of her own.]

It's wonderful to meet you, Merida. My name is Giselle. I'll be teaching Home Economics. That's sewing and cooking.

[Merida actually brightens at this news]

So y'think y'can help me find what I need t'sew t'gether something a bit more sturdy for my uniform?

[She's really not a fan of the length]

Alright, then I'll be seein' y'around... Miss Giselle.

[She's heeeeeeeard that's approximately how pleasantries work around here.]

[Well, this is a pleasant surprise. While everyone Jasmine had come across seemed nice enough, it was still genuinely enjoyable to be approached with such warmness.]

I am doing well. And you?

[Maybe her time here won't be too much of a challenge after all, even with the culture shock. After all, if someone so outwardly friendly is staying, it can't be all bad, right?]

Oh, very well! [She pauses briefly.] Well, as well as one can be given the circumstances.

I don't know about you, but I am quite confident that everyone here will be very successful.

I know how that feels; everything is so new.

[And nothing like the world or culture back home in the deserts, in Jasmine's case.]

Hopefully you are right; we'll need to be.

[While they might be safest here at the school, it also meant that the weight of solving the mystery of the Mist was on their shoulders.]

My name is Giselle, by the way. I'll be teaching here.

I rather like your optimism; I'll be hoping most everyone shares it.

[Jasmine offers a polite and warm smile.]

It is a pleasure to meet you, Giselle; I am Jasmine. Do you mind if I ask what class you'll be teaching?

Sewing and cooking. Though I they ended up calling it home economics.

Are you a student? Or a teacher?

Strange, though I suppose it makes sense.

Oh, I'm not a teacher at all. I am a student... and to be honest, this is my first time in an actual school. I have only had private tutors before this.

I never attended a school either. Most of the things I learned, I learned on my own or from my animal friends at home.

I suppose animals have quite a bit to teach.

[Not the right things to round out an academic regimen, but she knows from experience how vivid animal personalities are. Rajah's just as expressive as her own father.]

Though I don't think the Academy will be teaching the same things here.
